Events & Programs

An important part of our mission is to provide forums where those “striving for excellence” can improve their skills and still have fun. To accomplish this, we bring a diverse and interesting array of learning opportunities to the farm. Events for 2018 include the following:

Olivia LaGoy-Weltz: January 13 and 14

Olivia moved to Northern Virginia in 2013 and provides high quality, focused dressage training in the greater Washington, DC area, and, in winter, Wellington, Florida. She grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area and began riding when she was 5 years old. Her experience includes working for and riding at several of the top barns in Holland and Germany. Olivia is currently competing on the CDI circuit in Wellington, Florida and Europe at Grand Prix with her own Rassing’s Lonoir and has been featured widely in the dressage press- https://www.mountaincrestfarm.com/press/.

Olivia’s accomplishments cover a lot of ground. In addition to being the 2015 Traveling Small Tour Alternate for the Pan American Games, here are a few:

  • 2015 – Palm beach Derby small tour CDI winner
  • 2015- Member of the 2015 Gold medal winning Nation’s Cup team in Wellington FL
  • 2014 – USDF FEI Trainer’s Symposium Demonstration Rider
  • 2014 – Palm Beach Derby CDI, Wellington FL – Small Tour Winner
  • 2014 – USEF National Championships Intermediare – 3rd Place
  • 2012 – USDF Region 2 Open GP Champion, and Open I-2 Reserve Champion

Frederick Area Dressage Shows: March 25, July 8 and October 21

FADS are very popular schooling shows that feature a casual atmosphere without all the “red tape” and high cost of other shows. Our three shows last year filled up quickly. If you are interested in signing up or for more information, visit Frederick Area Dressage at:

Janet Foy: April 27 – 29, 2018

We always enjoy our time with Janet. She will return for her wonderful “Through the Levels” clinic in next April. This year she will focus on maximizing scores using the “double coefficients” at each level. Janet is a well-respected “I” rated FEI judge, author and Olympic selection panel member. She has judged every major championship in North America.

Lots of people turn out for this fun event, which includes not only Janet’s excellent commentary but shopping opportunities! Over the weekend, Janet and our riders cover tests of every level. Common rider mistakes are addressed so that everyone — auditors and riders alike — can improve their show scores. Come and learn from one of the best and friendliest clinicians in the sport.
